Steve Renyard & Ryan – Withys at the Weir

12th December 2019

Steve Renyard had been out and about recently doing his tuitions and catching along the way, as he does so consistently. This week however, he decided on something a little different and elected to fish a social trip with his nephew Ryan on the famous Colne Valley day ticket venue Thorney Weir.

“With a huge drop in air pressure, a small mild window of opportunity presented itself and the two anglers made the most of it as they would! Ryan opened his account with a stunning 28lb 8oz fully scaled whilst Steve absolutely smashed it up with 7 takes in a morning including two commons to 30+ in the net at the same time and an awesome looking linear at 39lb!

All the fish were caught on Steves famous ‘Withy Pool’ rig while testing our forthcoming “Duo-Fleck” braided hooklink, TA shrink tube, fluorocarbon leaders and size 7 Curve Point hooks.

The pair targeted the silty depressions out in the lake baiting with Active Manilla and 2.3mm Bloodworm pellets, then fishing the rigs in solid bags over the top of these areas.

Well done guys, a superb session anytime, let alone in December!
