Davy Claus relays a tale of when unrelenting persistence and flexibility in his angling paid off.
Hielke Meijer – Big ’60’
17th September 2019
Well it seemed as if Hielke’s season could not get any better with a run of incredible looking and desirable carp from a number of different waters. But get better it did and the accumulation of huge carp has just got a whole lot bigger!
“The lake that contains my target common got very busy last week and therefore I decided to let it be for now. I might go back later this year or spring next year. For now though, I moved to another lovely venue which holds some proper bangers and one lump of a sixty mirror. I fished it late autumn last year and caught some mega cool fish. To make a short story even shorter though; I caught the biggest fish on just the third morning, weighing a mind-blowing 66lbs (30.1Kg). A Camsoft combi rig with tungsten dropper and a Curve Shank size 4 hook and a Manilla 25mm bottom bait it’s downfall. I can’t seem to put a foot wrong this year!’
A superb result for Hielke and a big well done from all of us here at Thinking.
