Adam Raveney – Red Letter Days

30th January 2020

Adam Raveney has had a fantastic start to the year! His first report in of 2020 started with a short day session that turned into a red letter day!

“Had a bit of a mental day session yesterday!

After losing my first bite of the year last week to a bit of a disaster with a load of floating weed I managed to get back out yesterday hoping for a bit of revenge… what unfolded next was beyond even my wildest expectations – 5 bites later resulting in 3 commons the best being 31lb+. A lovely fully scaled mirror, and to top it off an absolutely belting 27lb 14oz Linear. It was just a crazy day’s fishing and it’s safe to say I’m still buzzing!

All bites coming to one rod on the same spot fished tight to the weed. The old faithful wafter rig and topping up the spot with approximately 1kg of Krill after every bite was the winning combo!”

The year took yet another turn in the right direction recently, and with Adam fishing with utmost confidence in his methods, tactics, rigs and bait he went onto his next two sessions catching both trips. It was this last session that one of the real bigguns turned up!

“I had a right result Sunday morning, bagging myself one of the A team, a 40lb 6oz mirror known as Turbo.

After getting down to the lake just after dark on Saturday night and finding it to be busy, I opted to drop into an unfancied little corner and flicked out a couple of rods close in.

My first bite came at around 1 in the morning, a mirror of around 24lb.

The following morning myself and a few mates were watching fish ghosting in and out of the spot – I was starting to think I might run out of time as I had to be away from the lake around 10ish, but a few minutes later, just after one of my mates had informed me he’d seen a unit drop onto the spot, the rod was away!

I certainly wasn’t to be disappointed when a brute of a mirror rolled into the net at its first time over 40lb.

Simply blown away mate.”

Adam puts his faith in our super-strong Straight Eye Hook, PTFE swivels, Camsoft and Tungsten Droppers to construct his favourite wafter rig.
