Simon Kenny – Back on the Chods!

10th January 2019

Simon Kenny – The very best of endings!

After a truly incredible season during 2018 and the capture of no less than 2 December 50’s, Simon Kenny decided to fish local to home for the rest of the winter, get back on schedule and catch up on work commitments. The Nunnery is a local water, close enough for Simon to drop in for overnighters and short baiting trips etc.

‘Although the A lake is very low stock, it does do bites through the winter so I know I’m up against it, but there a large common I would love to catch, so the rewards are there. I managed to get to the lake a couple of times over the festive period between Christmas and New Year and had a bit of a result!’

Simon fished his usual Olive Camo Leadcore leaders but changed from his usual hinge rigs to a chod set up utilising our ‘on test’ Bristle filament and TA size 5 Out Turned Eye hooks. The result was a chunky common of 35lb 6oz and an immaculate fully scaled of 28lb 12oz, beautifully hooked on the chods – a right winter result!

No matter how confident you are in a particular rig or presentation, a little change here and there to suit new conditions or a new lake can often pay dividends…stay prepared, be adaptable and reap the rewards!
