The return of Renyard

28th November 2018

Steve Renyard makes a notable comeback to the scene.

The name Steve Renyard will resonate with many of you due in part to the long running magazine series ”The Weekender’ that Steve fronted for a long time with incredible success. He is also just as well known by many for his tactical wizadary when it comes to rigs. He wrote many articles on a wide variety of presentations, including in depth disections of the withy pool rig, hermit rig and his classic ‘basic complicated rig’. With a vast knowledge of the bait scene both past and present, it was no surprise when after slotting back into the carp scene Steve soon had his melting pot of ideas bubbling away.

After a whirlwind tour of the Oxford day ticket scene and the capture of an incredible amount of big fish this autumn, Steve found himself ensconced on the famous Linch Hill Christchurch venue during November. Fishing small barrel hookbaits and our size 7 curve point hooks, Steve slipped the net under a cracking 35+ common one cool autumn morning. The best was to come as later that day Steve received another take and soon had one of the Christchurch monsters in the net… an autumn gold common of 45lb 4oz.

Quite simply a whirlwind return to carp angling – we will be seeing a lot more of Steve in the future!

Well done mate!
