PAUL FORWARD
YEAR BORN: 1959
OCCUPATION: Roofer
UK PB MIRROR: 53lb 4oz
UK PB COMMON: 53lb 12oz
FAVOURITE WATER: Conningbrook or Harrow
AVERAGE LENGTH OF SESSION: 24hrs
Paul brought a wealth of experience and wisdom to the table, with his many years pursuing the finest carp across the UK and the continent. Sweeping into Kent from his home county of Nottingham during the eighties, Paul soon made his mark on many of the waters in and around the Stour valley, before discovering and pioneering Conningbrook, a water that would go on to produce the largest carp in the land.
Along the way Paul travelled far and wide, setting his sights high during the 90’s in the Colne valley, catching carp from the mighty and historic Savay and Harrow, his capture of Chop Dorsal at over 50lb featuring as a guest chapter in Terry Hearn’s classic book ‘In Pursuit of the Largest’. Paul’s writing featured heavily in the angling press over the years with a long running and much-loved diary piece in Carpworld.
From Dinton to Burghfield, Chanty to the mighty Orient, Paul’s amazing ability to adapt and succeed set him apart as one of the finest and well-rounded anglers of his generation. Whether it was wild windswept inland seas, an intimate local pond, trotting a stick down a river in the depths of winter, or zigging for carp in 40ft of water, Paul was at home with it all. A highly relatable angler for many with his work ethic and short session overnight style, Paul was a true asset to our team.
Rest in peace Mr. F
