John Cash reveals his go-to rig that works seamlessly with both wafter and
pop-up hookbaits

This is a rig I have used since 2017 and has accounted for probably 95% of my captures since then. I have the utmost faith in this presentation and if I’m fishing over bait, it’s the only rig that I need.

The hook holds are always brilliant, and I very rarely suffer hook pulls. I think this is mainly down to the shrink tube kicker and the hook pattern that I use. It is an extremely versatile presentation when fished on a Heli setup, and by using the Camstiff hooklink, its anti-tangle properties are second to none.

More often than not I’ll use a 12mm pop-up, which I mount using a Hook Ring Swivel Screw, but the rig will work just as well when fished with a wafter hookbait. Personally, I find a small, bright pop-up standing proud of the bed of bait brings me quicker bites.
