We ask Myles Gibson - If you were limited to the use of only two rigs for the rest of your angling journey, what would they be?

First up would have to be the Claw Rig. I’ve used a variation of this rig ever since I can remember, and it’s a presentation I have complete confidence in. It’s also a rig which suits my style of angling as more often than not I’ll be targeting small cleaned off spots, or firmer areas, and almost always over bait.

The combination of a large hook with a small 12mm hookbait sitting proud, ready to grab hold, certainly sorts them out. Couple this with a large lead and you can see why it’s so very effective. Over time I have made slight tweaks to the rig, the most recent being the use of either an OE, or the new BC (Beaked Chod) TA hook. I found the out-turned eye with that aggressive shrink tube kicker, opens the gape up a fraction more aiding mechanics.

The second rig would have to be a hinged rig. It’s a rig which ticks so many boxes and can be used in a lot of fishing situations. Whether that is fishing for ‘boshers’ when you’re sure they are down on the bottom, or fishing zones over a spread of boilies. Hinged rigs are even great for fishing in low weed, when combined with long booms and light leads.

So yeah, if I only had the use of two rigs, these would get my vote. Between the two I’d have most angling situations well and truly covered…
