I’ve been an angler for as far back as I can remember. Just like most of my generation, I started fishing the local brooks and canals, catching everything from sticklebacks, bullheads and stone loach, through to perch and pike. I then spent a lot of my early teens racing motocross bikes and did not really get serious about carp fishing until around 25 years ago.
The first fish I really targeted, was a beautiful mid-forty common. At the time was one of the very few forty plus commons in the country. I targeted it from a small club water close to home, eventually catching my prize at a massive 44lb 8oz. This really lit the fire to go on and catch what I consider to be the biggest and the best from waters all over the country.
I have fished the likes of Manor Farm in Essex, North Met Pit in the Lee Valley, Roach Pit in Ringwood, St. Ives Lagoon in Cambridge to name a few, and I have always been lucky enough to catch my targets.
I’m currently fishing Burghfield, what is in my opinion, my biggest challenge yet.
